A recent blog from the Met Office shows that the recorded rainfall in April was down by over 30% versus the normal level. England and Wales were the driest areas, whilst Scotland and Northern Ireland levels were closer to the norm.
Readers with a good memory may remember that this pattern was also experienced in the last two years. April 2020 and April 2021 were also very dry. So much for “April Showers”! Farmers, gardeners and leisure facilities across the UK will have been faced with the need to get out their hoses, pumps, sprinklers and other irrigation kit much earlier in the year again.
