Winster Ltd have successfully transitioned from the 2008 version to ISO9001 2015. The Black Country company has worked incredibly hard over the past year to prepare for the new accreditation and has made continuous improvements and developments in order to make the smooth transition this September. Winster are one of the country’s leading suppliers of PVC and rubber hose and hose assembly, and are very proud to have ticked all the right boxes needed to be awarded the latest accreditation.
What is ISO9001 2015?
ISO9001 2015 is the most recent level of the standard that lays out specifications regarding quality management systems. Businesses are required to meet these standards in order to be awarded the accreditation. By doing so, businesses have a certification to say they have met and are continuing to follow these specifications that create a suitable workplace environment for employees and allow for the highest levels of customer satisfaction. Establishments that have this certification are shown to be more customer-focused, and it enables clients and consumers to see that they are working with a professional and trusted business that is guaranteed to provide them with a top service.
The latest ISO9001 specifications featured some new changes which businesses needed to meet in order to gain the 2015 standard. ISO9001 2015 includes a brand new specially devised structure that prominently focuses on encouraging businesses and organisations to follow a risk-based thinking approach – an act that can have a positive impact on both employees and customers. The specifications also outline other aspects for businesses to partake in such as leadership engagement, organisational risks, and supply chain management.
The road to success
In order to meet the high standards that ISO9001 2015 requires from its holders, Winster have spent this year implementing a series of different strategies and approaches into the business. They also invested in a fully trained ISO9001 consultant who has spent the past few months supporting the company and ensuring they moved in the right direction for the accreditation.
A ‘lean thinking’ approach has taken on by Winster, and a huge increase of investments into staff training has taken place. The company also established a brand new focus on apprenticeship opportunities and have been welcoming local members of the community in to the team as apprentices – one of these has already passed their training and is now a full-time employee for Winster.
Speaking of the accreditation and future plans, Managing Director Val Gardner said “We as a whole company are delighted that we’ve managed to get the ISO9001 2015 accreditation, and we hope this shows to our customers how much we care about the service and products that we deliver to them. Mel Patel, our Business Manager has worked hard with the team to gain the transition, but that certainly doesn’t mean we are going to stop continuing to develop. We’ve got lots of plans for this next year and we can’t wait to carry on being the best we can be!”
