Last month, both the CBI and Lloyds Bank reported a positive outlook for UK businesses. With the British Chambers of Commerce also reporting increasing confidence amongst small and medium sized companies (SMEs) in April, it looks like there are genuine reasons for businesses across the UK to be more optimistic for the months and years ahead. Amongst the highlights reported were:
- Business confidence at an eight-year high
- Over half of UK firms believe their turnover will increase in the next 12 months
- Manufacturers expect to see a rise in output over the next three months
- Over half of firms planning to increase headcount in the next 12 months
- More upbeat news in the construction sector
